- Olly Murs has already learned from his Mentor and idol Robbie Williams that flirting with the gay populace will do your record sales no harm at all.

Speaking in this week's GT, he said: "I find myself with gay guys all the time! The 'you can't have me thing!'

What a succinct way of putting it - I'll flirt with you for popularity, just don't touch my winky! At least he posed for us on the cover in a wet shirt.

Murs also spoke about some rather odd "games" with fellow X Factor contestant Danyl Johnson.

"Danyl was one of the people I was closest to in the house. We used to play 'gay chicken' together.

"Gay chicken is this game where you lean in to kiss someone and you await to see who turns away first.

"We were leaning in and laughing, but then Danyl actually closed his eyes! I've always been really open-minded. I don't judge people."

Maybe not Olly, but it does make you sound like a tease, and Danyl a hetty-chaser!

So what's the verdict? Do we like it when pop singers sell themselves to a gay crowd by suggesting possible indiscretions? Or is it a tired and cynical ploy from 90s boybands? The head says one thing, but the loins...
