Music - The long rumoured Spice Girls musical has finally been confirmed. Unlike the trend of musicals based on established artists such as Queen, Rod Stewart and Take That, the show will not just feature their songs around a fictional story but will actually be more closely based on the story of the Spice Girls. How Posh, Scary, Ginger, Baby and Sporty came from nowhere to the biggest girl group in the world.
The show will be called 'Viva Forever' - named after their 1998 number 1 single. It will feature 14 of their biggest hits. The script is currently being written by manager Simon Fuller's brother Kim Fuller. It's not the first time that he has been involved with the girls. He also wrote the screenplay for the one and only Spice Girls movie 'Spice World' - released in 1997.
The first Spice Girl to leave the group, Geri Halliwell has been heavily involved in the project and is set to turn her hand to producing. The singer turned author will be an executive producer to the show.
'Viva Forever' will be launched in London's West End on November 5th, 2010. Depending on the reaction that the opening receives, the show is likely to go to Broadway and then tour around the world.
In the meantime, Mel C is currently starring in her first musical, Blood Brothers in London. She is the first of the girls to star on stage, and plans to work on a new solo album. Mel B has had a busy year with her burlesque show and TV work, whilst Emma Bunton has her own radio show, and Victoria Beckham has her own clothing range and perfume.
