VideoW@tch - Lots of people were waiting for it and here it is, the brand new video from Britney Spears '3'.
It was written and produced by Max Martin and Shellback while Britney was on tour in Stockholm, Sweden to promote the release of Britney's 'Singles Collection'. It's an electropop track about threesomes, with lyrics such as "Merrier the more, triple fun that way".
In the US '3' has already broken chart records, debuting at number one in the Billboard Hot 100 before the video was even released and selling 255,000 downloads in the first week. Now in it's third week of release, it has sold over 500,000 downloads. According to Billboard.com, Britney has become "the first artist in over three years to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100." It's the 16th song to ever debut at number one, the shortest song title to debut at number one, and no other non 'American Idol' artist has achieved a number one debut in the last 11 years.
'3' has also become Britney's fifth number one in Canada, and has reached the top 10 in Australia, France, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The music video for '3' was filmed on October 5th and 6th, 2009 in LA, and was directed by Diane Martel, who has said that it's Britney's "next sexy video. It's a very simple video for her. I don't think you've seen her this much under a magnifying glass. Everything's really strong and playful."
Diane Martel told Life & Style that Britney was great to work with. "She's so sweet and funny and so normal and down to earth. It's really fun as a director to see her in front of the camera. She's so creative with this stuff. The video is very simple, it's very, very minimal. So it's her, her, her. And she's totally engaging every second. She really knows how to work with a camera and move."
Martel also commented that Britney was very creative on set and was heavily involved in the pre-production process: "I was really impressed, and I have worked almost with every female artist in the business."
